The Prophetic Was Intended to Go Beyond the Four Walls of the Church

BUILDING A PROPHETIC COMMUNITY

Have you ever felt alone, isolated, or misunderstood in your prophetic gifting? Over the years I’ve often heard prophets and highly prophetic people express the distressing feeling of isolation as they’ve questioned their role in a community that lacked a prophetic culture. I know the feeling of being misunderstood and confused in your call. When I was called by God to be a prophet I hardly knew what the prophetic entailed let alone was I surrounded by other prophets or prophetic equippers. 

I’d propose rather than running to refuge in spaces with similar people and giftings God often places prophetic people in places that feel absent of prophetic culture to pioneer movements that catalyze reformation and reconciliation in their communities. He places princes in the land of paupers to call out the purpose of God that is withheld in each individual until the provision of Heaven is released on a land that has been hindered from their divine nature. 

Have you ever stopped to consider “what if you have been given everything you need to change the culture around you?” To equip the people in your community to hear the voice of God and respond to His heartbeat. 

Now, let me be clear in your attempt to create a prophetic culture in your community; this does not mean you disregard leadership or dishonor others' vision. Rather, in quite the opposite to the spirit of opposition, the prophetic in its simplest form is encouragement — calling out the very nature of God in those around you. 

If you have been hungry to grow in your prophetic gifting I want to encourage you to ask God to grow your heart of compassion and empathy. The prophetic was never meant to be about making bold proclamations or mandates; it was intended to be about a relational connection to the heart of the Father. 

I recently sat down for a conversation with Julian Adams, a prophet, Co-founder of Frequentsee, and Pastor at The Table Boston Church to talk about the prophetic influencing culture. Julian Adams has a powerful story of overcoming controversy and stepping into places by divine appointment that have impacted the hearts of those who don’t know God. His prophetic calling was recognized from a young age, and His heart to see the lost connected to the voice of God is contagious.

Prophetic Word: The Womb of the Dawn

In early December, I began seeking a prophetic word from the Lord for 2024. He told me, "I am not going to give you a word for 2024. Instead, I am going to give you a word for the Body of Christ for a new era." He explained that January 2024 would be a half-time; marking the closure of an era and the beginning of a new one. This period would be characterized by immense transition, culminating in the discipling of nations. A supernatural metamorphosis, metaphorically akin to a caterpillar transforming into a butterfly, would occur right before our eyes.

In recent weeks, a resounding message has been echoing in my heart and mind: January is the Church's halftime! Our divine Coach is calling us to the huddle, to draw close, and let Him fine-tune our game plan – our values, thoughts, and behaviors. Amid the noise, He's inviting us to step away, knowing that leaning into these divine moments will catapult us into the second half, ready for victory. And in this game, we already know the final score – He wins!
