Humility is Still the Way Forward

HUMILITY IS STILL THE WAY FORWARD

Have you been feeling tossed to and fro this past week? To say it has been a challenging week would be an understatement! But in the midst of this turbulent storm, God is paying close attention to the hearts of His people, and the way we respond to this season is extremely important to God. These trials that we’re facing are not creating the condition of our hearts, they are revealing it.

The U.S. election has exposed what I perceive as the spirit of arrogance arising in the midst of many Believers. With this in mind, I feel it’s imperative that I again remind us (myself included) of the word the Lord gave me back in March of this year: “Humility is the way forward!”

OUR FIGHT IS NOT AGAINST FLESH AND BLOOD

While it feels like a battle is raging between political parties, we must not lose sight of the fact that our battle is not against people but against principalities and powers. I am deeply concerned that offense, bitterness and judgement will continue to drive our country deeper into darkness if we don’t humble ourselves . We must not position ourselves with the pointed finger of judgment but with the bended knee of humility.

It can be easy to think the candidate we voted for is clearly the only righteous choice to solve all of our problems. But to think that there is a perfect and an imperfect party is unwise. The truth is that there is no perfect candidate, just like there is no perfect voter. If we take a second to zoom out and gain some perspective, it becomes clear that whoever is running for a political office will have flaws, sin, and a past that has both good and bad moments. But I have hope in the X factor : a good God who is able to lead imperfect people in an extremely troubled world.

I’d like to propose that we need humility more than we need a certain person in office. This is not just about a person winning a political race, but about the Lord healing our land! 2 Chronicles 7:14 says, “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
All it takes to heal the land is for God’s people to humble themselves!

THE STRATEGY JESUS USED

Jesus displays a beautiful act of humility in John 13. Knowing everything that was coming against Him, He chose to humble Himself and wash His disciples’ feet. The disciples thought He was just washing their feet, but He was actually positioning Himself for the resurrection. Did you catch that? In the midst of the enemy making his move to kill Jesus, Jesus made a strategic counter-move and humbled himself. Humility is a weapon of warfare!

3 KEYS TO HUMBLE YOURSELF AND PROCEED FORWARD

H ere are 3 keys to humility that are paramount to practice as we proceed forward:

1. Be teachable.
One of the most evident signs of humility is that you can be corrected without defending yourself; you don’t always have to be right, and you posture your heart to learn from others.
2. Don’t be easily offended
. Listen, carrying offense is a bummer! Have you ever experienced someone telling you a story about their hurt or their pain that happened twenty years ago? Yet, they recount the story as if it were yesterday, re-living the pain over and over. Believers, we have got to learn to be quick to forgive and release those grudges we’re holding on to. I like what Joyce Meyer said, “Harboring unforgiveness is like drinking poison and hoping your enemy will die.”
3. Be content in who you are, but more importantly, be content in who you are not.
Authenticity has such a high value right now. People are searching to be seen, but it’s those who freely admit their flaws, mistakes, and failures that demonstrate healthy humility that the world is so desperate for. Being content in who you are opens you up to authentic love and hopeful freedom.

RIGHTEOUSNESS OUTWEIGHS BEING RIGHT

Revivals are never birthed out of being right, they are born out of righteousness which is rooted in Jesus’ redemption and forgiveness. God is positioning those who pursue humility to gain unsurmountable favor, wisdom, and solutions in this season. Remember, humility + nothing = promotion.   The Lord is for us and is guiding us through this tumultuous time. But my question to you is: will you humble yourself and follow His lead? My prayer is that the Lord will give us insights on how to be noble and virtuous; holding to righteous convictions; while being patient with those who are living by a different standard. May we align ourselves with God’s will for the remainder of 2020!

In a world more connected than ever through the internet and social media, the deep, authentic connection we all yearn for has become increasingly elusive. Created in God’s image, we instinctively desire to be known, loved, and belong, yet so many of us wrestle with invisible barriers that keep us isolated. What if the secret to breaking through these barriers lies not in more connections but in deeper, more meaningful ones with both God and others? How can we identify and overcome what prevents us from experiencing true connection in our daily lives?

In early December, I began seeking a prophetic word from the Lord for 2024. He told me, "I am not going to give you a word for 2024. Instead, I am going to give you a word for the Body of Christ for a new era." He explained that January 2024 would be a half-time; marking the closure of an era and the beginning of a new one. This period would be characterized by immense transition, culminating in the discipling of nations. A supernatural metamorphosis, metaphorically akin to a caterpillar transforming into a butterfly, would occur right before our eyes.

Have you ever found yourself in the midst of life's chaos, desperately needing a break, clarity, and a spiritual reset? Picture it like halftime – that pivotal moment when the coach steps in, recalibrates the team, and sparks a turnaround. The game isn't over; this is a chance to come back stronger and claim victory! In recent weeks, a resounding message has been echoing in my heart and mind: January is the Church's halftime! Our divine Coach is calling us to the huddle, to draw close, and let Him fine-tune our game plan – our values, thoughts, and behaviors. Amid the noise, He's inviting us to step away, knowing that leaning into these divine moments will catapult us into the second half, ready for victory. And in this game, we already know the final score – He wins!
